PfandPay is a UK-based digital platform designed to simplify the deposit return process for bottles and cans. Our system connects retailers, reverse vending machines, and consumers through one seamless app, allowing users to return containers anywhere and receive instant digital refunds they can spend at multiple participating retailers.
By creating a unified and transparent network for deposit returns, PfandPay helps retailers meet sustainability goals, supports the upcoming 2027 Deposit Return Scheme, and makes recycling easier, faster, and more rewarding for everyone. Our purpose
At PfandPay, we believe that the UK’s recycling system is at a turning point. With a population of roughly 65 million across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the upcoming October 2027 deposit-return scheme will create the framework for a nationwide shift in how drinks containers are handled. Yet today, only about 70-75% of plastic, steel and aluminium drinks containers are being recycled — and many still end up littering our streets, countryside and waterways.
By building a digital platform that enables users to return bottles and cans anywhere, and receive instant rewards, we’re not only making recycling easier — we’re unlocking a system that supports the circular economy vision laid out by government. Our platform bridges consumers, retailers and recycling infrastructure, helping to meet the ambitious goals of the scheme and ensuring that every bottle retains value.

Meet the Founders
PfandPay was created by two childhood friends with a shared mission to modernise the UK’s recycling journey. Morgan Beesley and Josh Illingworth combined their experience in leadership, operations, and app development to build a seamless digital wallet for the upcoming UK Deposit Return Scheme.
As Co-Founders, Morgan leads the company as CEO, focusing on strategy and partnerships, while Josh drives the product forward as COO, overseeing app development and day-to-day operations. Together, they’re building a cleaner, smarter, and more rewarding recycling future for everyone in the UK.
